Let us now enumerate the subjects commonly found in the works on each branch. The mathematical branch consists of three sections (i) *Siddhānta*, (ii) *Tantra* and (iii) *Karaṇa*. The *Karaṇa* works deal with planetary calculations only. Bhāskarācārya defines *Siddhānta* as follows :—
