HĀṬAKĀṄKA wrote a commentary called (*AṢṬĀṄGAHṚDAYA*)DĪPIKĀ.¹⁶¹ This author is quoted as Hāṭaka by Parameśvara and Śrīdāsapaṇḍita, which may indicate that he lived in Southern India.¹⁶² Śrīdāsa’s quotations establish that he is anterior to Vāsudeva, Śrīdāsa’s teacher,¹⁶³ and later than Indu, with whom Hāṭaka often argues in his interpretations.¹⁶⁴
