v2.c31.13
168 This science is said to be threefold, consisting of hetu, linga and auṣadha, i.e., causes, signs and remedies (Ca.Sū.1.24). Compare the legend, told in the Taittirīyabrāhmana (3.10.11.6), as to how Bharadvāja learnt the Vedas from Indra (see Th. Sarmah, 1991: 14–15). The Garudopaniṣad says that Indra taught the Brahmavidyā to Bharadvāja, who transmitted it to his disciples who desired long life (Th. Sarmah, 1991: 17; A. Weber, 1885). See on the relations between Bharadvāja and Indra in general: Th. Sarmah (1991). Compare also: Ātreya.
