A feature peculiar to the Hārītasamhitā is the attention given to the influence of the nakṣatras on the course of a disease. Chapter six of the Ariṣṭasthāna is entirely (fifty-two verses) devoted to this subject, neglected in most of the āyurvedic treatises. 227 Chapter seven describes an elaborate sacrificial ritual (homavidhi), to be performed on behalf of a patient; bundles of firewood (samidh), derived from many different trees, are employed in it.
