Umāpatyācāra mentions in the introductory verses of his commentary the following authorities on gajaśāstra: Agniveśya, Bhrgu, Bṛhaspati,⁴⁹⁵ Gajanātha, Gautama, Kolāhala,⁴⁹⁶ Mrgacarman, Nārada, Pālakāpya, Raibhya, Vālakhilya,⁴⁹⁷ and Vyāsa.⁴⁹⁸ Umāpatyācāra’s commentary is very elaborate.
