Scholars defending the view that the son of Siṃhagupta who wrote the Rasaratnasamuccaya is the same as the Vāgbhaṭa, son of Siṃhagupta, who is the reputed author of the Aṣṭāṅgahṛdayasaṃhitā and Aṣṭāṅgasaṃgraha, tend to ascribe an early date to the work.²⁰⁴
