The *Śāṅkhayana Śrauta Sūtra* wears in general a somewhat more ancient aspect, particularly in its fifteenth and sixteenth books where it assumes the appearance of a *Brāhmaṇa*. There is a *paddhati* to the *Śāṅkhāyana-Gṛihya* by Rāmachandra who lived in the Naimisha forest in the middle of the fifteenth century, and Weber holds that this Naimisha forest was the birthplace of the *Sūtra* itself.
