‘**Chitta-bhūmi.**’ Yoga elaborates this process of the discipline and purification of *Chitta* or Mind. *Chitta* is recognized as exhibiting five patterns or *bhūmis*. A *Chitta-bhūmi* is defined as “the condition in which the Mind has a natural tendency to rest, and to which it habitually reverts by the momentum of its dispositions and aptitudes established by accumulated experience” (*saṁskāra-vaśāt yasyām avasthāyāṁ chittaṁ prāyaśaḥ saṁtishṭhate sā eva chitta-bhūmiḥ*). The Mind moves in its accustomed grooves co-related to corresponding configurations.
