v2.c32.t1.76

Śārṅgadhara-saṃgraha—a compilation by Śārṅgadhara : its peculiarity is that it is based upon the Āyurvedas (Charaka, etc.) on the one hand and the Tantric chemical treatises on the other. In the chapter on the purification and incineration of metals, 7 of these are recognised, but strange to say there does not occur any mention of zinc. Later on, 9 metals are named including two alloys, brass and bell-metal, after the 9 planets, the significance of which will be discussed in the proper place.
