Large scale manufactures of beads of semi-precious stones, as also of glass beads, were made at Arıkamedu. A bead of faience has also been found. The range of colour of the glass beads is limited; shades of blue and green are the most popular colours, followed by copper-red. Less common colours are white and black, whilst yellow, violet, brown and grey are very rare. The material is generally opaque, but sometimes translucent. Transparent glass is absent.
