We shall close our account of the work done by Śāntarakṣita with a few remarks on his style. Śāntarakṣita writes with a charming facility and shows a wonderful mastery over the syllogistic reasoning.² From his refutation of the Sāṁkhya's *Satkāryavāda*, which we have referred to, we get an idea how he meets his opponent. He first tries to understand his position as clearly as possible or which is the other way of putting it he states the case of his opponent. This task he performs so admirably and exquisitely that any one who only reads it would think it is the Sāṁkhya himself who is arguing his case.
