³ We have even epigraphical evidence to show that Nālandā was a renowned centre of Tāntric studies. We are told by the Nālandā copperplate of Devapāladeva (11.37-42, Ep. Ind., XVII. p. 325.) that "Nālandā was the abode of bhikṣus and Bodhisattvas well-versed in the Tantras".
