As to Keith's view he not only endorses Dr. Randle's opinion that "so far as I know no evidence has yet been produced to show that the doctrine of *Vyāpti* originated in the Bauddha rather than in the *Vaiśeṣika* school," but he adds that there is positive proof in the *Vaiśeṣika* and the *Nyāya Sūtras* and in Vātsyāyana's *Bhāṣya* to say that the doctrine was held by *Nyāya* and *Vaiśeṣika* writers long before the times of Diṅnāga.
