Govindapāladēva was perhaps the last Pāla King, who patronised Nālandā. For, after his death in or about 1197 A.D. both, the various dynasties of kings—the Cauhan, Gaharwar, Pāla and Sena, who were long since contending over the spoils of Magadha, were exterminated by the violent storm of Moslem invasion,—and Nālandā, too, met a similar fate.
