After finding the perpendicular lines to the east-west line with the help of any of the above cords, poles are fixed upon the perpendicular lines at a distance equal to half the measure from the *prācī* to obtain the square. For rectangle, poles are fixed at a distance equal to half the value prescribed in the text.
