In 1823 August Wilhelm von Schlegel published an edition of *Bhagavadgītā* with Latin translation. This caught the attention of philosophers and linguists like Humboldt and Hegel. Humboldt wrote: “It is perhaps the most profound and the most sublime that the world has on record.”⁵ German version of Manu’s law book was created from Jones’s translation.
