With the continuity of pre-colonial knowledge systems and institutions in colonial period, the *paṇḍits* serving as native informants also participated in the administrative process, and even served as advisers and philsophers for the East India Company and the British rulers later. They actively contributed to building bridges between diverse polarities and creating knowledge systems.²³
