The Carakasaṃhitā, on the other hand, through the opening formulae of its chapters, proclaims its contents as taught throughout by the Venerable Ātreya, the teacher of all six branches enumerated in the legendary account; in the colophons of its chapters its development is ascribed to Agniveśa, the first of the six disciples to turn out an encyclopedic treatise based on Ātreya’s oral instructions.
