madhyā tathā pragalbhā ca dvidhā sā paribhidyate |
jyeṣṭhā cāpi kaniṣṭhā ca nāyaka-praṇayaṃ prati //
Both the adolescent (madhyā) and the mature (pragalbhā) are divided into two kinds,
the senior (jyeṣṭhā) and the junior (kaniṣṭhā), with respect to the hero's love.
