tathā ca bhāva-prakāśikāyām-
śṛṅgāro hāsya-bhūyiṣṭhaḥ śṛṅgārābhāsa īritaḥ |
hāsyo bībhatsa-bhūyiṣṭho hāsyābhāsa itīritaḥ ||

And likewise in the Bhāvaprakāśikā:
“The erotic sentiment abounding in the comic is declared to be a semblance of the erotic;
the comic sentiment abounding in the odious is declared to be a semblance of the comic;”
