The bow of Śiva was broken, yet Śiva, leader of the gods, was not angered; / the causeway was constructed, and the ocean was seen to be clear and sweet; / the last descendant of Pulastya has survived, and the venerable poet of the Vedas is pleased; / and this chariot was obtained and restored to Kubera who asked for it.”

ity atra rugṇaṃ cājagavaṃ ity anena bhūta-pati-dhanur dalanena sītādhigama-rūpakām aprāpteḥ paulasytaś caramaḥ sthitaḥ ity anena śaraṇāgata-rakṣaṇena dharma-prāpteḥ prāptaṃ yānam idaṃ cety atra vimāna-ratna-lābhenārtha-prāpteś ca na cāpi kupito bhargaḥ sura-grāmiṇīr ity ādibhiḥ pādānta-vākyaiḥ rāmacandreṇa sva-kṛtārthatā-kathanād upasaṃhāraḥ |

Here, upasaṃhāra is exemplified, because Rāmacandra declares his fulfilled purpose by means of the final phrases of each verse line, such as “yet Śiva, leader of the gods, was not angered,” on account of: the attainment of pleasure consisting of winning Sītā through “the bow of Śiva was broken”; the attainment of dharma through protecting one who sought refuge through “the last descendant of Pulastya has survived”; and the attainment of wealth through gaining the jewel among aerial chariots through “and this chariot was obtained.”

kiṃ ca, rugṇaṃ cājagavaṃ setuś ca grathita ity ādibhyāṃ yuddhotsāha-siddheḥ paulastyaś caramaḥ sthitaḥ ity atra vibhīṣaṇasya pālanena dayā-vīra-siddheḥ yācitavate dattaṃ kuberāya cety anena dānavīra-siddheś ca rāmabhadreṇa svakṛtārthatā-kathanād vā upasaṃhāraḥ |

Moreover, [the sub-division of the conclusion called] upasaṃhāra occurs because Rāmabhadra declares that he has achieved his ends, through: the realization of his enthusiasm for battle by the words "and the bow of Śiva is broken" and "the bridge is constructed" and so forth; the realization of the compassionate hero (dayāvīra) by the words "the son of Pulastya has been preserved in the end" through his protection of Vibhīṣaṇa; and the realization of the generous hero (dānavīra) by the words "and it was given to Kubera when he begged for it."
