atha bhraṃśaḥ-
patanaṃ prakṛtād arthād anyasmin bhraṃśa īritaḥ ||
Now, deviation:
A falling away from the matter at hand into something else
is called deviation.

3.275.p2
yathā prasanna-rāghave, rāvaṇaḥ (saṃvṛtta-nija-rūpaḥ puruṣa-rūpeṇa praviṣṭaḥ |)-kathaya kva tāvat karṇānta-niveśanīya-guṇaṃ kanyā-ratnaṃ kārmukaṃ ca |
As in the Prasannarāghava, Rāvaṇa (having assumed his true form, entering in the guise of a man): “Tell me, where are the jewel of a maiden and the bow, both possessing virtues/strings worthy of being drawn to the ear?”
3.275.p3
mañjarīkaḥ-idaṃ tāvat kārmukam | kanyā tu caramaṃ locana-patham avatariṣyati |
Mañjarīka [says]: “Here first is the bow; but the maiden will descend into your field of vision last.”
3.275.p4
rāvaṇaḥ (sa-saṃrambham)-dhiṅ mūrkha ! kathaṃ re rāśi-nakṣatra-pāṭhakānāṃ goṣṭhīṃ na dṛṣṭavān asi | te' pi kanyām eva prathamaṃ prakaṭayanti | caramaṃ dhanuḥ |
Rāvaṇa (with agitation): “Fie, fool! Why, have you not seen an assembly of readers of zodiac signs and lunar mansions? They too disclose the maiden (Virgo) first, and the bow (Sagittarius) last!”
3.275.p5
mañjarīkaḥ (svagatam)-katham ayaṃ vācāṭatām eva prakaṭayati | [1.32 padyād anantaram]
Mañjarīka (to himself): “Why is he displaying mere loquacity?” [After verse 1.32]
3.275.p6
ity atra rāvaṇena [puruṣa-rūpeṇa praviṣṭena] dhanuḥ-kanyayoḥ prakṛtam arthaṃ parityajya rāśi-lakṣaṇasyārthasya prasañjanād ayaṃ bhraṃśaḥ |
Here, because Rāvaṇa [who had entered in the guise of a man] abandons the relevant meaning of the bow and the maiden and introduces the meaning belonging to the zodiac signs, this is deviation.
