Livelihood through Work
10.1
Acquisition of wealth through father, stepmother, enemy, friend, brother, woman, or dead people, by the Sun and the others,
is to be deduced [from those] situated in the tenth house from the horā or the Moon, or through the profession of the lord of the degree occupied by the lord of the tenth from the ascendant, Moon, or Sun.
10.2
In the degree of the Sun, [wealth is gained] through grass, gold, wool, medicine, and the like; in the degree of the Moon, through agriculture, aquatic products, or reliance on women;
in the degree of Mars, through minerals, fire, weapons, and daring deeds; in the degree of Mercury, through writing, mathematics, poetry, and arts;
10.3
in the degree of Jupiter, through brahmins, gods, mines, and religious duties; in the degree of Venus, through jewels, silver, cows, and buffaloes;
in the degree of Saturn, through labor, slaughter, carrying loads, and base crafts: thus is the accomplishment of work through the navāṃśa occupied by the lord of the tenth.
10.4
By planets situated in friendly, inimical, or own houses, wealth comes from them; when the Sun is exalted and strong, [it comes] by one's own prowess.
Through benefics possessing strength, situated in the eleventh, the ascendant, or the second, one should consider wealth in manifold ways.
