If one doubts: 'Then, because it accomplishes what is to be accomplished as the nature of an undifferentiated consciousness and expression, it is unestablished, because it is the cause of what is to be accomplished by itself', it is stated: 'that very…' That which is directly observed by the seeing consciousness is the particular of blue, the manifestation of blue. It accomplishes the object to be accomplished through such an aspect; for by the phrase 'through such an aspect', what is intended as a mere universal is a synonym for similarity, because this common nature is also similar. Therefore, what is to be accomplished through such an aspect is the object to be accomplished of the universal of blue; that which has the capacity to perform the action of an object defined as an undifferentiated consciousness and expression is this particular—so it has been explained accordingly. The intended thought is this: in this way, even distinct manifestations, through proximity to something and being identical in the definition of being determined to a single result, produce a single undifferentiated result, and therefore do not possess a universal other than that; for otherwise, it would follow unwantedly that there is infinite regress. In that way, it accomplishes the action of an object of the nature of undifferentiated consciousness and expression. Because what is the use of admitting a universal that lacks valid cognition and is invalidated by valid cognition? For in a consciousness such as inference, an aspect such as this appears as an unmanifest nature, but for those who see such a manifest aspect, that is not directly perceived. At the time of seeing only a single manifestation, when the nature of blue and so forth appears clearly, having imagined it as not seen, does one deceive oneself? If it is said, 'Because it is mixed with the nature of the manifestation, it appears like fire in an iron ball', that is not so; for it would follow unwantedly that there is no distinction between difference and non-difference in all things, and an answer to this is easily found elsewhere as well.
