How then should the bodhisattva generate the mind [to practice]? 'Those who have awakened—the Tathāgatas, Arhats, perfectly awakened ones—and those who are awakening, or who will awaken, have awakened, are awakening, and will awaken precisely through this method, through this path, through this very vigor. To the extent that they have awakened only after becoming Tathāgatas, I too will strive in such a way, I will exert myself in such a way, with vigor shared with all beings, with vigor directed toward all beings, so that I will awaken to unexcelled, perfect awakening.'
