"'This is named the supreme vow,
The auspicious dharmacakra mudrā;
The refuges of the world, the saviours of the world,
All turn this wheel.'"
yogin. / The mantrin whose limbs are trained / should not recite in any other way. / The four limbs that I have taught / through external and internal application, / those are indeed worldly, / while that with an object of observation is unsurpassed. / Controlled by words of retraction, / the mind attentive to the deity, / reciting in a whisper is the supreme [way] / taught for those with an object of observation. / What is known as transcending the worldly mind / completely abandons retraction and so forth. / Unifying with the deity / and apprehending as non-dual, / the mind should render the nature inseparable; / it should not be done otherwise. / The counts of secret mantras, mostly three hundred thousand, / which I have taught, / are taught as the count of recitation / for mantrins who are embodied beings free from sin and purified; / it is not to be done otherwise.
From *The Emanation and Empowerment of the Complete Awakening of Mahāvairocana*, this is the Chapter on the Reality of Worldly and Transcendent Recitation.
Then the Bhagavān Vairocana looked upon the assembled retinue, and with his two eyes of love and great compassion, he looked upon all realms of sentient beings and entered into the samādhi called 'The Arising of Amṛta.' As soon as the Bhagavān had entered this samādhi, from all his limbs there emerged the queen of vidyā mantras called 'Endowed with the Power Detached in the Three Times': Tadyathā / gagana-same / apratisame / sarva-tathāgata-samatānugagate / gagana-vara-lakṣaṇe svāhā. "Sons of noble family, the sphere of this queen of vidyā mantras is non-dual with the bodies of all Tathāgatas. / Empowered by this, the buddhas / and bodhisattvas of great renown / will attain the unattached reality of phenomena / where suffering ceases." / Then the Bhagavān
