This great dhāraṇī-mantra is like a great canopy sheltering all; it is also like heavenly rain moistening all; it is also like a bridge or boat carrying all across. Among the teeming beings of the three realms, none fail to rely on it. Though the monastic and the lay are distinct, the flavor they receive is one; the ten thousand sorts of living beings all converge in the one emptiness. The reason the bodhisattva adapts expedients to transform them is solely to liberate the various beings. Now speaking this mantra, for the sake of practitioners I rescue and uproot them, causing them quickly to attain the holy fruits of the three vehicles. I command all practitioners to read and recite it diligently; it is true and not in vain.
