"If there are any nāgas who, having heard this mantra, do not send down sweet rain, their heads shall split into seven pieces." At that time, as many Buddha-worlds as a hundred thousand kotis of nayutas of asaṃkhyeya kalpas of Buddhas shook with the six kinds of earthquakes. At that time, sentient beings, because of this earthquake, saw one another and mutually shook each other even up to the Śuddhāvāsa. When the Śuddhāvāsa had shaken, the nāgas and clouds both stirred. When the nāgas and clouds stirred, they poured down a great rain; at that time all ninety-eight thousand great rivers in Jambudvīpa were filled with the seven jewels, and all the pools together yielded the flavor of supreme medicine. Although it rained for seven days, there was no further harm done, and the joy of sentient beings was like drinking amṛta. The rivers were filled with water of eight virtues, namely: delicious, cold, light, soft, clear, pure, fragrant, and clean; when drunk, it was harmonizing and comfortable, and after being drunk, there was no ailment. All aquatic creatures gave forth wondrous sounds. At that time on Mount Gṛdhrakūṭa in Rājagṛha, the seven jewels covered the ground without any empty space. The sky again rained utpala, padma, kumuda, and puṇḍarīka flowers made of the seven jewels. All aquatic creatures brought forth the mind of anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi; animal beings embraced the joy of the Mahāyāna and thirsted for the Mahāyāna, turning to one another with loving-kindness like an only child. The bhikṣus united in mind to make offerings to the Buddha.
