Ritual Text of the Mantra for the Saṃghāṭī Spoken by the Buddha
6.44
The Buddha said: "Now, venerable monk So-and-so, grieving that sentient beings are submerged in the three wretched realms without protection, dons the armor of saṃnāha for the sake of all living beings in the ten directions, and now, in accordance with the Great Dharma, makes a saṃghāṭī robe. When the cutting of this Dharma robe of a true person is finished, it is then sealed, and thirty-two upright beings who are great deities entering the vinaya will arrive at that time, protecting the Dharma robe inside and out, front and back, so that wherever the robe goes—to commanderies, states, counties, towns, villages, and dwellings—as it travels throughout the ten directions, all will receive blessings."
6.45
Mantra Text for Wanting to Sew
6.46
The Buddha said: "Now, venerable monk So-and-so has cut the Dharma robe saṃghāṭī. Pure in upholding the precepts, he has prepared needle and thread, and will now sew it together. May the great deities who arrange and protect the vinaya and the Four Heavenly Kings protect and assist So-and-so, so that demons and ghosts cannot lead him astray or bring disorder. When it is sewn together in proper order with thread treated according to the Dharma, may this monk swiftly grasp the wisdom of sarvajñā throughout lifetimes; may his resolve be firm and his conduct steadfast, his precepts without puncture or flaw, his awe-inspiring appearance radiant, and may the three realms be ferried across to liberation."
6.47
Ritual Text for Receiving the Dharma Robe
6.48
The Buddha said: "The dānapati So-and-so, taking pity on living beings, on parents of seven lifetimes, and on male and female kin within and without who are sunken in the ocean of saṃsāra without rescue, unable to extricate themselves and sunken in the three wretched realms, has therefore curtailed his own share of sustenance for body and mouth to make this Dharma robe and reverently offer it to the venerable monk, thereby seeking boundless, supreme blessings. May the awe-inspiring spiritual power of the Unsurpassed Venerable One protect him; may So-and-so be adorned with the thirty-two marks on his body, attain exceptional merit, gain great fame, and by means of this pure giving ferry sentient beings across extensively. May the devas, nāgas, ghosts, spirits, humans, and non-humans throughout the ten directions all receive shelter and take refuge. May parents of seven lifetimes, the five kinds of kin, and karmic enemies and creditors all be liberated, already freed from worry and suffering. May the dānapati attain unhindered compassion, enter profound Dharma doors, realize supreme correct enlightenment, practice like a bodhisattva, attain the Way like a Buddha, and ferry all across extensively."
6.49
Ritual Text of the Mantra for the Alms Bowl Spoken by the Buddha
6.50
The Buddha said: "Venerable monk, having pity on people in the five paths of the ten directions, has established a field of merit and this Dharma vessel of a true person. Turned over it resembles heaven; facing up it resembles the sea. Benefiting and liberating sentient beings, guarded by all the great deities who enter the vinaya, ghosts and spirits must not violate or approach it. When food is cast into the bowl, be it much or little, fine or coarse, thick or fine, given with a mind of joy or anger, once it enters the bowl vessel it immediately becomes great merit, immediately closing the paths of the three wretched realms and opening the doors of the three liberations. The donor attains merit, and the recipient attains security. Whoever eats this food will have complete precepts and whole merit; may this food transform into Dharma medicine and may all be liberated."
6.51
Ritual Text of the Mantra for the Khakkara Spoken by the Buddha
6.52
The Buddha said: "Now, with a mind of compassion for sentient beings, the venerable monk, wishing to pacify all, makes this khakkara: with its three sections directed upward in intention, it restrains the three poisons, establishes the three vehicles, and leads into the boundless Dharma door of the three liberations. Twelve great deities who enter the vinaya descend to protect this Dharma staff of a true person, pacifying the three realms and guiding all so that they attain liberation."
6.53
Ritual Text of the Mantra for the Solitary Seat Spoken by the Buddha
6.54
The Buddha said: "Now the venerable monk establishes purity and now newly makes a niṣīdana sitting mat. The great deities who enter the vinaya protect this seat, preventing ghosts and spirits from rashly violating or approaching it. Once this seat is used, it brings supreme peace to the three realms and security to the three times so as to pacify sentient beings. Sitting as if in original non-being, the seat has nothing attached to it, and all are at peace. Extensively ferrying living beings across, may they attain correct samādhi without a wavering mind. May the one who returns to this seat swiftly accomplish the unsurpassed, correct, and true Way."

Carry out the practice before the image of Avalokiteśvara from the eighth day to the fifteenth day of the śuklapakṣa: wear fresh, clean clothes, smear the ground with cow dung, and further smear and dust scented clay over it; give rise to a mind of reverence, fill twelve vessels with raw milk, fill four earthenware vessels with fine incense—it must be extremely fine incense—prepare sixteen garlands of flowers, sixteen earthenware lamps, burn dark, hard agarwood incense, prepare four large earthenware jars filled with pure water, take various flowers and place them in the jars, burn fuel of milky wood, and also prepare eight hundred lotus flowers. Recite the dhāraṇī, keeping the sound continuous and the virtuous mind unbroken; each time it is recited once, cast one flower into the fire. At that time, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva will come from the east and manifest great spiritual light burning above the fire. Then Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva will manifest in the fire resembling the painted image, the body clad in white clothes, the hair standing tall, holding a vessel and flower, appearing in the fire. When one sees this, let the mind have no fears; know that this person will immediately shut the gates to the paths of hell, pretas, and animals, and whatever is desired and wished for will all be attained: whether seeking to become noble, wishing to fly through the sky, or wishing to give to sentient beings, all will be attained at will. Whether wishing for extensive learning, wishing for skill in debate, wishing to enter profound [states], wishing for hidden treasures, wishing to ingest immortal elixir, wishing for marvelous complexion, wishing for bezoar (gorocanā), wishing for the divine eye, or wishing for the divine ear; it extinguishes all pain and illness; if bodily faculties are incomplete, or if there is leprosy or any suffering from illness, even up to all the faculties of the body being deficient, all will be cured, and all heavy karma from the past will also be eliminated.
