刮舌有五事：一者不得過三返、二者舌上血出當止、三者不得大振手污僧伽梨若足、四者棄楊枝莫當人道、五者常當著屏處。

In scraping the tongue, there are five matters: first, it must not exceed three times; second, if blood emerges from the tongue, one should stop; third, one must not vigorously flick the hand so as to soil the saṃghāṭī or the feet; fourth, discarding the tooth-stick must not be in the path of people; fifth, it should always be placed in a secluded spot.
