取袈裟著時有五事：一者手搔身不得便著，當更澡手；二者手未澡不得便持袈裟；三者袈裟不得從上牽下，當以右手逆排左手從下受；四者以下持袈裟，當先抖擻之乃申著；五者不得從前掉著臂上。

When taking up the kāṣāya to wear it, there are five matters: first, if the hands have scratched the body, one must not put it on immediately, but should wash the hands again; second, if the hands have not been washed, one must not take hold of the kāṣāya; third, the kāṣāya must not be dragged down from above: one should push it upward with the right hand and receive it from below with the left hand; fourth, holding the kāṣāya from below, one should first shake it out and then stretch it out to put it on; fifth, it must not be swung from the front over onto the arm.
