持鉢有五事：一者當令帶堅、二者當著左腋下、三者行時當使外向、四者不得使下扈相近、五者飯已持鉢當還使自向。

There are five matters regarding holding the pātra: first, one must ensure the strap is firm; second, it must be placed under the left armpit; third, when walking, it must face outward; fourth, it must not be brought close to the lower hem; fifth, after eating, when holding the pātra, one must turn it back so that it faces oneself.
