1.82

復有十五事：一者有弟子當能衣食；二者當能經紀；三者當能解經令知義；四者有深經好語，皆悉當教弟子；五者有所問當能報語；六者當能分別，為說三惡道罪；七者當能教黠慧如我勝我；八者當教持戒分別知所行；九者當教曉戒隨說；十者當審弟子意節度與。

There are another fifteen matters: first, when he has disciples, he should be able to provide clothing and food; second, he should be able to manage affairs; third, he should be able to explain the sūtras and make their meanings known; fourth, whenever there are profound sūtras and fine words, he should teach them all to his disciples; fifth, whenever asked a question, he should be able to give an answer; sixth, he should be able to distinguish and explain the retribution of the three wretched realms; seventh, he should be able to teach cleverness and wisdom so that [the disciple] equals or surpasses himself; eighth, he should teach the upholding of the precepts and distinguish their practices; ninth, he should teach an understanding of the precepts and expound them accordingly; tenth, he should carefully assess the disciple's mindset and give according to measure.
