1.23

問：「續佛光明，晝可滅不？」答：「不得。若滅犯墮。雖佛無明闇，施者得福故，滅有罪耳。」

It was asked, "May the lamp continually burning before the Buddha be extinguished during the day?" It was answered, "It may not. Extinguishing it is an offence of pātayantika. Although the Buddha has neither light nor darkness, because the donor obtains merit, extinguishing it entails an offence."
