1.12

The Buddha said: "Son of the Buddha! One who wishes to accomplish this path should first rectify the three karmas, practise the teachings of the three jewels, and have faith and direction in cause and effect. If so, then through what you have asked, one will be able to enter all the teachings of the Buddha; one who is a bodhisattva will attain buddhahood before long. One must surely and attentively receive and study the name-gates of the forty-two worthy and noble stages of definitive meaning, which all buddhas of the ten directions and the three periods of time unanimously expound as one without two.
