「爾時須闍提諫父王曰：『父王今者，若斷子命，血肉臭爛，未堪幾日。惟願父母莫殺子身，欲求一願，若見違者，非慈父母。』

"At that time, Sujāti admonished his father the king, saying: 'Father King, if you end your son's life now, the flesh and blood will rot and foul, and will not last more than a few days. I only pray that my parents will not kill your son's body. I wish to ask for one boon; if it is refused, you are not compassionate parents.'"
