「如我不喜杖石鞭打，搒笞拷掠者，一切眾生亦復如是。是故菩薩，乃至喪失身命，終不杖石楚毒拷掠眾生。
'Just as I do not delight in sticks, stones, whippings, floggings, or torture, so too is it for all sentient beings. Therefore, the bodhisattva, even if it costs his body and life, will never inflict the painful cruelty of sticks and stones or torture upon sentient beings.
