『爾時，施主還到其家，喚其夫人及其子息、僮僕、作使，一切皆集。於眾人中和顏悅色，發柔軟言，告喻妻子及諸作使：「汝等應當至心聽我所說。汝等知不？天時炎旱，時世饑儉，人民飢餓死者無數。我等居家，庫藏盈滿，穀米無量。可共及時，種於福田。」妻子聞已：「善哉！善哉！快善無量。我等身命亦隨施主，況於大藏錢財飲食耶？」

"'At that time, the donor returned to his home and summoned his wife, his children, his servants, and attendants, gathering them all together. Among the crowd, with a pleasant expression and gentle countenance, he spoke gentle words to explain to his wife, children, and attendants: "You should listen with wholehearted sincerity to what I have to say. Do you know? The heavens are scorched with drought, the times are stricken with famine, and countless people have starved to death. We, residing at home, have storehouses filled to overflowing, with limitless grain. Together, we can take this opportunity to sow seeds in the field of merit (puṇyakṣetra)." Hearing this, his wife and children said: "Excellent! Excellent! It is boundless and exceedingly good. Even our lives follow yours, donor; how much more so the money, wealth, food, and drink in the great storehouses?"
