3.32

「爾時鹿女即隨父教，往詣北窟。步步舉足皆生蓮華，隨其蹤跡，行伍次第，如似街陌。往至北窟，從彼仙人乞求少火。爾時仙人見此女人福德如是，足下生於蓮華，報言：『欲得火者，汝當右遶我窟，滿足七匝。』行伍次第了了分明，隨其舉足，皆生蓮華。遶七匝已，語其女言：『欲得火者，復當在此右邊還歸去者。當與汝火。』

"Then the deer-girl followed her father's instruction and went to the northern cave. With every step she took, a lotus flower sprang up under her feet, and following her footprints, they formed neat ranks and rows, just like a street. Going to the northern cave, she begged that ṛṣi for a little fire. At that time the ṛṣi saw that this woman's merit was such that lotus flowers grew beneath her feet, and he told her: 'If you wish to obtain fire, you must circumambulate my cave to the right a full seven times.' The ranks and rows were distinct and clear; wherever she lifted her feet, lotus flowers sprang up. After she had circumambulated it seven times, he said to the girl: 'If you wish to obtain fire, you must return along this right side as well. Then I will give you fire.'
