爾時大王召諸六師，卜問如來為何所在。爾時六師即作是言：「大王！當知瞿曇沙門正是幻術所化作耳。幻化之法，體無真實。大王！當知我等經書四圍陀典說言：『千年二千年當有一幻人出世。』瞿曇沙門正是其人。」

At that time, the great king summoned the six non-Buddhist teachers to divine where the Tathāgata was. Then the six teachers spoke these words: "Great King! You should know that the śramaṇa Gautama is merely produced through the transformations of phantom arts. The nature of phantom illusions is entirely without reality. Great King! You should know that our scriptures, the four Vedas, say: 'Every thousand or two thousand years, a phantom person shall appear in the world.' The śramaṇa Gautama is precisely that person."
