4.15

「爾時大王即遍宣令：『誰欲入海？若往還者，七世衣食珍寶無所乏少。吾當供給道路船乘所須。善友太子亦欲入海採取珍妙摩尼寶珠。』眾人聞之，歡喜聚集，具五百人，皆言：『大王！我等今者，隨從太子。』

"At that time, the great king immediately issued a proclamation everywhere: 'Who wishes to enter the sea? For those who go and return, their food, clothing, and treasures for seven generations shall not be lacking. I shall supply everything needed for the journey, including ships and mounts. Crown Prince Kalyāṇamitra also wishes to enter the sea to fetch the wonderful maṇi jewel.' When the multitude heard this, they gathered in joy, amounting to five hundred people, all saying: 'Great King! We shall now follow the crown prince.'
