4.55

「復次，提婆達多惡心不息，而作是念：『我今應當長養十指爪甲，極令長利，於爪甲下塗以毒藥。往如來所，頭面接足禮時，我當以十指甲抓足趺上，毒藥入體，其必喪命。』作是念已，如所思惟，往如來所，頭面作禮，以手接足。爾時毒藥變成甘露，於如來身竟無所為。

"Furthermore, Devadatta's evil mind did not cease, and he had this thought: 'I should now let the fingernails of my ten fingers grow, making them extremely long and sharp, and smear poison under the nails. When I go to the Tathāgata's place and bow my head to his feet in veneration, I shall scratch the tops of his feet with my ten fingernails. When the poison enters his body, his life will surely be lost.' Having had this thought, he proceeded according to his scheme to the Tathāgata's place, made obeisance with his head, and touched his feet with his hands. At that time, the poison turned into amṛta, and had no effect whatsoever upon the Tathāgata's body.
