4.56

「復次，提婆達多既不果願，復作是念：『如來今者坐耆闍崛山下。我今應當上山，頭頂上排山上石下，斷其命根。』作是念已，上山排石，傷佛足指。我慈悲心，怨親同等。

"Furthermore, since Devadatta did not achieve his desire, he again had this thought: 'The Tathāgata is now sitting at the foot of Gṛdhrakūṭa Mountain. I should now climb the mountain and push down a boulder from the mountain onto his head to sever his life-faculty.' Having had this thought, he climbed the mountain and pushed a boulder, injuring the Buddha's toe. My compassionate mind regards enemies and loved ones alike.
