6.23

「凡言『如是我聞』者，佛在時言；『我聞』，為是滅後也。撰法藏者言我聞，佛二十年中說法，阿難不聞，何得言我聞？」

"Whenever one says 'Thus have I heard,' it was said while the Buddha was in the world; was 'I have heard' spoken after his extinction? The one who compiled the Dharma repository said 'I have heard'; but during the twenty years the Buddha taught the Dharma, Ānanda had not heard it—how could he say 'I have heard'?"
