4.21

"At that time, the guide was exhausted, fell unconscious to the ground, and said to the crown prince: 'My life cannot last long by any means; I will surely perish here. Prince, from here travel east for seven days, and there will be a golden mountain. From that mountain, proceed forward for another seven days, and the ground will be entirely blue lotus flowers. Proceed forward for another seven days, and the ground will be entirely red lotus flowers. Having passed these flowers, there should be a city of the seven precious things, with yellow gold forming its battlements, white silver forming its watchtowers, red coral forming its wall-planks, inlaid and interwoven with musāragalva and agate, and covered above with nets of real pearls; seven tiers of moats made entirely of deep-blue lapis lazuli—the dwelling place of the great dragon king of the sea. In the dragon king's ear, there is a wish-fulfilling maṇi jewel. Go and beg it from him! If you obtain this jewel, it can fulfill the needs of Jambudvīpa, raining down the various seven precious things, clothing, food and drink, medicines for the sick, and music and entertainments. To sum up the essentials: whatever all sentient beings require, it can rain down as they wish; therefore it is called the wish-fulfilling jewel. If you, Prince, obtain this jewel, you will surely fulfill your original vow.' When the guide had spoken these words, his breath ceased and his life ended.
