"At that time, on the morning of the fifteenth day of the month, Prince Kalyāṇamitra bathed himself clean, put on fresh, clean clothes, and burned exquisite precious incense. Atop a high tower, holding an incense burner in his hands, he bowed with his head to the ground in reverence to the maṇi jewel, and made a vow, saying: 'For the sake of all sentient beings in Jambudvīpa, I endured extreme hardship and suffering to seek this precious jewel.' At that time, a great wind arose in the east, blowing away clouds and mists; the sky became bright and clear, and all the filth, feces, urine, ashes, dirt, and wild grasses in Jambudvīpa—once the cool wind moved, all was made pure. Through the majestic power of the jewel, naturally ripe non-glutinous rice, fragrant, sweet, soft, and fine, complete in color and flavor, rained down everywhere in Jambudvīpa, filling ditches and channels, accumulating up to the knees; next, famous garments, superior robes, pearl necklaces, and hairpins and bracelets rained down; next, gold, silver, the seven treasures, and various exquisite musical entertainments rained down. To speak of the essentials, all the instruments of pleasure required by all sentient beings were fully supplied. That a bodhisattva cultivates great compassion, practices the dāna-pāramitā, and amply supplies sentient beings with all instruments of pleasure—such was this affair."
