Asaṅga states: "From here below, the second part is for the sake of the endowment of the purity of unsurpassed vision and wisdom." In the text there are three parts: first, clarifying that for the sake of the endowment of the purity of unsurpassed vision, it says that the Buddha has the five eyes; next, from "Just as in the Ganges River..." downward, clarifying that for the sake of the endowment of the purity of unsurpassed wisdom, it says that the Buddha knows the minds of sentient beings; afterwards, from "If someone filled..." downward, clarifying that it is for the sake of the endowment of sovereignty in merit. In the first part, the five eyes form five sections, which can be understood as before. That is, outsiders have a doubt: "It was earlier said that realizing the true principle internally with non-conceptual wisdom is true adornment; when realizing the true principle with respect to all external signs, absolutely nothing is seen; therefore, they think that the Buddha only has the wisdom eye to contemplate the principle, and has no other eyes." To resolve this, it is said that the Buddha has the five eyes; such is the commentary's intention.
