佛告須菩提：「莫作是說，如來滅後後五百歲，有持戒修福者於此章句能生信心，以此為實。」
The Buddha told Subhūti: "Do not speak thus. In the final five hundred years after the Tathāgata's passing, there will be those who uphold the precepts and cultivate merit who can give rise to a faithful mind regarding these verses, taking these to be true."
