佛告須菩提：「莫作是說。如來滅後後五百歲，有持戒、修福者於此章句能生信心，以此為實。」
The Buddha told Subhūti: "Do not say such a thing. In the last five hundred years after the Tathāgata's passing, there will be those who uphold the precepts and cultivate merit who can give rise to a faithful mind regarding these verses, taking them to be real."
