[Regarding] 'unlike...' and so forth: It is not like words. That is to say, words are ultimately without substance, but the dharma of bodhi is not non-existent. It is merely that because it is not within words, it does not mean there is no dharma detached from words. Just as fire within words does not exist, yet there is not an absence of fire detached from words; because of this, although there is no fire within words, it does not prevent one from obtaining fire by means of words. Although there is no bodhi within words, it does not prevent one from attaining bodhi by means of words. For if one cultivates and advances by relying on words, one will certainly realize the fruit. If so, then one should not cling to existence within words, nor cling to non-existence apart from words; only by penetrating this existence and non-existence can one be said to be free from attachment. Therefore the verse says: 'Spoken in accordance with that real wisdom, / It is neither real nor unreal; / Like grasping realization upon hearing sounds, / It is spoken as an antidote like this.'
